A VERY FESTIVE PEOPLE
Updated June 10, 2008
Strippers' Picnic performed with other festival outcasts at SnubFest 2008 at the Chemically Imbalanced Theater on June 5 and 7. After a smashing set on Thursday that featured irrational fears and racism, our beloved Strippers competed in "Last Snub Standing," an American Idol/Last Comic Standing style competition for improv troupes. With a strong set featuring lot of foodies, dudes in wheelchairs and a deaf exotic dancer, the Strippers earned themselves a second-place finish and entry in next year's Dirty South Improv Festival in Chapel Hill, NC. Overall, the weekend was a rousing success. ... On another festival-related note, Strippers' Picnic was also selected to play at this year's Del Close Marathon in New York City, August 9-10.
The Onion says, "In this show, improv troupe Strippers' Picnic makes its first foray into long-form. Given the group's name and iO pedigree, it should be an odd mix of the high and low brow." |
